Wells Fargo and Ameresco hosted “Energize Wells Fargo: A Renewable Energy Generation Media Event” to celebrate the largest behind-the-meter solar PV project in Iowa, offsetting loads at the Wells Fargo campus directly.
With this flipping of the switch to activate the solar modules at Wells Fargo’s Jordan Creek campus, 12 percent of the site’s energy needs will be met with the new solar technology.
Last year, Wells Fargo announced a collaboration with Ameresco to develop and install approximately 30 MW of new, onsite solar generation assets at nearly 100 corporate and retail locations in eight states. Ameresco handles energy efficiency, infrastructure upgrades, asset sustainability and renewable energy projects for businesses and organizations throughout North America and Europe.
Wells Fargo has been meeting 100% of its global electricity requirements with renewable energy since 2017, initially through the purchase of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). These installations are part of the firm’s efforts to transition to long term agreements that support the development of net-new sources of renewable energy in locations where its energy needs are the greatest.
