West Hartfold-based developer Verogy has completed a pair rooftop solar installations at two FedEx facilities in Stratford (866 kW) and Middletown (2,075 kW), Connecticut. The projects are the first for FedEx in the state.
These state-of-the-art systems, comprised of more than 5,300 solar panels/modules in total, are designed to reduce the facilities’ carbon footprint while providing a reliable source of renewable, zero-emission energy.
“By embracing renewable energy, FedEx is not only making strides in reducing its carbon footprint but also setting a powerful example for other businesses on how to mitigate the effects of climate change,” said William Herchel, CEO of Verogy. “We are proud to have developed FedEx’s first Connecticut solar installations and look forward to seeing the long-term positive impact these projects will have on our environment.”
Combined, the solar projects are expected to generate more than 3,468,700 kWh of energy annually.
“Rooftop solar installations like these two are part of FedEx efforts to source more electricity from renewable energy,” said Lonnie Mattison, manager of sustainability and global vehicles at FedEx. “In working with Verogy to bring our first-ever solar projects in the state of Connecticut online, our facilities in Stratford and Middletown are helping pave the path toward our goal of carbon neutral operations by 2040.”
