CdTe thin-film solar panel manufacturer Toledo Solar formally announced its plans to expand its U.S. manufacturing capacity at its Ohio plant to 2.8 GW by 2027. The company currently runs a 100-MW line for residential and commercial projects.

Toledo Solar, like nearby manufacturing First Solar, will be able to take advantage of the full suite of tax credits offered to solar panel manufacturers in the Inflation Reduction Act. The thin-film companies make wafers, cells and modules in-house.

We are grateful for the leadership of representatives Marcy Kaptur, Tim Ryan and Sherrod Brown, Secretary Jennifer Granholm, and the Biden-Harris administration for their efforts to advance the country’s renewable energy capacity for generations.”
Bates told Solar Power World that Toledo Solar should reach 300 MW within a year, with additional expansion milestones dependent on financing.
