Strategic Power Projects has submitted a planning application for a 125MW solar PV project in Swordletown, Ireland.

The companywill invest around £84 million (€100 million) in the project, which will deliver significant contributions to the local economy and community groups through the Irish government’s Renewable Energy Support Scheme.

Paul Carson, managing director of Strategic Power Projects said: “We are extremely encouraged by the proposed site at Swordlestown. The deployment of solar farms in Ireland has the potential to increase energy security, contribute to our renewable energy targets and support economic growth and jobs.”

Back in October, Strategic Power Projects partnered with Gresham House to develop a solar and storage pipeline with a combined capacity of over 1GW across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Currently, the company has 16 solar, battery and biogas upcoming projects between both countries.

Carson added: “Furthermore, the team have ensured a sensitive design of the development to maximise the avoidance of potential environmental impacts and our ecological assessment concluded that the site will not have any direct or indirect adverse impacts to flora and fauna. Overall, the proposed landscaping and biodiversity measures will result in a positive impact for local biodiversity which is incredibly important to us.”

GOODBYE OLD WAYS

It’s okay to break tradition. Today’s electricity needs are more sophisticated than ever, making traditional power a thing of the past. Switching to solar helps you get with the times while saving the planet.

GREEN CONSCIOUSs

Traditional power has adverse environmental effects from the coal and natural gases combusted during production. Solar offers all of the power with no extra cost and no harmful polutions..

POWERED BY THE SUN

Rather than digging up fossil fuels, solar energy is clean power from the sun - a renewable fuel source that won't go out in our lifetime. Every kW lowers your carbon footprint by over 3K pounds annually.
