Test measurement instrument provider Fluke today announced it has acquired fellow solar test and measurement company Solmetric.
Solmetric is best known for its shade measurement tool, the SunEye, which is the de facto industry standard for shade analysis. Fluke Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Fortive Corp., will extend its product line, combining two powerful brands in the solar test and measurement space.
The acquisition also includes the PV Analyzer, a market-leading U.S. I-V curve tracer used for field verification applications such as commissioning, auditing and troubleshooting of PV arrays. The PVA-1500 has a 1,500-V high-efficiency with I-V curve tracer and is particularly suited to the utility industry.
“Fluke’s acquisition of Solmetric reflects our commitment to delivering the best possible products to technicians in the field,” said Fluke president Jason Waxman. “Their innovative solar tools and team’s deep knowledge in the space, combined with Fluke’s passion to advance the electrification of the world more efficiently, will enable us to transform this landscape to serve customers better.”
Solmetric was founded in 2005, and its experts have extensive experience in the solar installation industry and in the development of high-precision test and measurement tools. The acquisition will see all employees retained under Fluke’s leadership.
“We are excited to see Solmetric grow under Fluke’s leadership. With access to their vast distribution channels, an expanded, global audience will be able to experience the benefits of our products. Fluke is as passionate about delivering the next generation of solutions for solar customers as we are – it’s a great fit,” said Willard MacDonald, president and CEO of Solmetric.
