Sinovoltaics has released a free annual resource that includes listings for 128 transformer factories in mainland China. The Dutch-German Battery Energy Storage (BESS) and solar photovoltaic (PV) technical compliance and quality assurance service firm released its first annual Mainland China Transformer Factories Map to help solar developers overcome supply bottlenecks.
With growing concerns over transformer supply disruptions and lengthy lead times for delivery to solar projects, Sinovoltaics’ comprehensive directory provides critical insights into manufacturers, locations, and contact details. The report empowers industry stakeholders to view a comprehensive list of factories for more efficient procurement.
Transformers are the backbone of solar PV projects, converting and stabilizing electricity for grid integration. Without them, even the most advanced solar projects cannot deliver power to the grid. However, global supply chain disruptions, rising raw material costs, and surging demand have led to severe shortages, causing significant project delays. According to the National Association of Electrical Manufacturers (NEMA), transformers are currently experiencing unprecedented demand, resulting in three-year procurement lead time, delaying solar and renewable energy projects.
“The ability to source transformers efficiently is now a top priority for solar and energy storage developers,” said Arthur Claire, Sinovoltaics’ director of technology. “Our Mainland China Transformer Factories Map offers a strategic advantage. We hope this resource will help renewable energy companies to identify and connect with suppliers directly, reducing procurement bottlenecks and helping timelines stay on track.”
Sinovoltaics’ map and directory features a regional map and a directory of transformer factories across China, covering both major and emerging manufacturers. The directory includes the manufacturer’s brand name, province, website, and a contact email address. Currently, the list is limited to Chinese factories, but may be expanded to other countries in subsequent editions.
In addition to providing this transformer information resource, Sinovoltaics offers independent inspection and quality assurance services for solar developers to verify their orders’ manufacturing quality and compliance with international standards. With more manufacturers having supply shortages and high demand, Sinovoltaics’ transformer QA inspectors reduce the risk that defective units will cause additional projects delays when procured equipment need replacement for quality issues.
