New Energy Equity announced the completion of a 2-MW system with EmPower Solar. With an annual production of 2,456 MWh, the roof-mounted system boasts more than 5,000 solar panels and sits atop the warehouse of a local business, Four Seasons Sunrooms of Long Island.
“EmPower’s robust experience and expertise in the New York Community Solar market made them an excellent partner to work with on the Four Seasons community solar project,” said Josh Kunkel, New Energy’s VP of business development.
Contrary to a typical “behind-the-meter” solar installation, the system is connected directly to the grid as part of a community solar program where other commercial and residential customers can subscribe to purchase electricity generated by the system. The energy generated provides local businesses and homeowners the advantage of decreasing their energy costs while utilizing clean solar energy.
“Community solar offers a way for building owners to create new income by hosting a solar power system,” said David G. Schieren, CEO of EmPower Solar. “These types of projects also provide discounted energy to local communities. We’re proud to have partnered with New Energy on this project, which is a win all around.”
