Minnesota awards first multi-megawatt solar projects under LMI community solar program

Enterprise Energy announced that the Minnesota Department of Commerce has awarded the developer capacity for two community solar projects totaling 11 MWDC located in Montevideo and Cottage Grove, Minnesota. Notably, these are the first multi-megawatt projects approved under the state’s Low- and Moderate-Income (LMI) Accessible Community Solar Garden Program.

The LMI Accessible Community Solar Garden Program, administered by the Minnesota Department of Commerce, aims to expand access to solar energy for low- and moderate-income households. These projects are committed to at least 55% of subscribers being low- or moderate-income residential customers. This initiative reflects Minnesota’s commitment to equitable energy solutions and environmental justice.

In partnership with Native Sun Community Power Development, a Native-led nonprofit dedicated to promoting renewable energy, energy efficiency, and an equitable energy transition through education and workforce training, Enterprise Energy will support a new workforce development program. This collaboration aims to empower career-seekers from disadvantaged communities by providing training and employment opportunities in the growing clean energy sector.

“We are honored to lead the way with the first multi-megawatt projects under Minnesota’s LMI Community Solar Program,” said – Eric Pasi, CEO of Enterprise Energy. “These projects not only contribute to a sustainable future but also ensure that the benefits of solar energy are accessible to all Minnesotans, regardless of income. Our partnership with Native Sun underscores our commitment to community empowerment and workforce development.”
