Does Your Home Have Backup Power? We Want to Hear From You.

The system that provides electricity to our homes is getting less reliable. Outages are more frequent and last for longer. More severe weather is likely to make the problem worse.

As a result, many homeowners are investing in backup power systems. Some have bought large generators. Others have installed batteries to store the energy generated by rooftop solar panels.

I cover the energy industry for The New York Times. My colleagues and I are trying to better understand the steps that Americans are taking to keep the lights on during power outages.

Please share your stories about the steps you have taken to make sure you and your family have access to electricity during natural disasters and grid problems.

The Times will not publish any part of your submission without contacting you first. We may use your contact information to follow up with you.
