New Energy Equity has completed a 2 MW system in New York with EmPower Solar. With an annual production of 2,456 MWh, the roof mounted system consists of over 5,000 solar panels atop the warehouse of a local business, Four Seasons Sunrooms of Long Island. This adds to New York’s U.S. leading community solar total.
“EmPower’s robust experience and expertise in the New York Community Solar market made them an excellent partner to work with on the Four Seasons community solar project,” said New Energy’s Vice President of Business Development, Josh Kunkel. “As our first project in the Long Island area, it further establishes New Energy’s commitment to the New York Community Solar market and advances our mission of expanding clean energy access to all communities.”
The installation differs from a typical “behind-the-meter” installation in that the system is connected directly to the grid through a community solar program, in which other commercial and residential customers can subscribe for electricity generated by the system. The energy generated provides local businesses and homeowners the advantage of decreasing their energy costs while utilizing clean solar energy.

Founded in 2013, New Energy Equity develops and finances solar power generation assets, providing clean electricity to commercial, industrial, municipal, and utility customers under long-term contracts.
